The Blackhawks acquired center Brendan Morrison from the Flames for defenseman Brian Connelly the team announced Friday evening. Morrison, 36, is a 15-year veteran who recently reached the 200-goal and 600-point plateaus for his career.

The Sharks have acquired forward Tim Kennedy in a trade with Florida that sends defenseman Sean Sullivan to the Panthers. The Sharks have assigned Kennedy to top development affiliate Worcester in the AHL.

The Hurricanes have traded left winger Alexei Ponikarovsky to the Devils for minor league defenseman Joe Sova and a draft pick. The Hurricanes announced the trade Friday night, about 90 minutes after their 3-0 win over the Capitals.

Montreal traded forward Mike Cammalleri to the Calgary Flames for forward Rene Bourque on Thursday night, pulling him from the game after two periods a day after he was quoted as saying the Canadiens "play like losers." GM Pierre Gauthier confirmed the deal after the game against the Bruins, which Montreal lost 2-1 to fall to 3-8 since Randy Cunneyworth replaced Jacques Martin as coach. Gauthier said he had been working on deals to make the team bigger for more than a month, and denied Cammalleri was traded because of his comments.

The Lightning have acquired defenseman Brendan Mikkelson from the Flames today in exchange for forward Blair Jones, Vice President and GM Steve Yzerman announced. Mikkelson has played in 86 career NHL games with the Flames and the Ducks, recording six assists and 40 penalty minutes. A native of Regina, Saskatchewan, Mikkelson has appeared in 33 games for the Abbotsford Heat this season, notching three goals and 15 points. The 24-year-old was claimed off waivers by Calgary from Anaheim on October 19, 2010. He was drafted by the Ducks in the second round, 31st overall, of the 2005 NHL Draft.

Brian Burke, President and GM of the Maple Leafs, announced Tuesday that the club has acquired forward Nicolas Deschamps from the Ducks in exchange for forward Luca Caputi. Deschamps has been assigned to the Marlies of the AHL. The Leafs have also recalled defenceman Korbinian Holzer and assigned forward Philippe Dupuis to the Marlies. Deschamps was originally Anaheim's second choice, selected 35th overall in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. This season the forward played 35 games for the AHL's Syracuse Crunch collecting five goals, two assists and seven points with 10 penalty minutes. Caputi played 21 games for the Marlies this season registering two goals and one assist along with 10 penalty minutes. In 26 career games with the Leafs he earned six points (one goal, five assists) and 14 penalty minutes.
